Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0028946A2] 1. Connector for a cathode ray tube of small dimensions, adapted to receive contact pins of said tube for ensuring electrical connections thereof with corresponding circuits connected to a printed circuit, of the type including mid voltage safety discharger means arranged circularly around the tube connector axis and constituted by a plurality of plate-shaped conductor means (4, 5) each being respectively provided with an insulating element (6) forming discharger housing means, one electrode (5) thereof being connected to one of the connector contacts, in turn connected to the corresponding pin of the tube, the other electrode being integral with a common strip (3) connected to earth, said connector being generally ring-shaped (1) and provided with an integral peripheral protrusion in the form of a belt (2) including housings each adapted to receive an insulating element (6) forming discharger housing means, the ends of said conductor means (4, 5) and corresponding insulating element (6) forming discharger housing means being arranged in a same plan parallel to that of the tube connector, characterized in that said housings are open at both ends so that the conductor means the ends of which (4, 5) form discharger electrodes are arranged on both sides of said belt, and that each insulating element (6) forming discharger housing means is provided, on its face opposite to the centre of the connector, with two protrusions, one (6b), after being snapped through, forming a position locking tooth, the other (6a) forming a position stop abutment so as to permit installation by simply presenting said discharger means and snapping down into said housings, no permanent strain appearing on the length of said conductor means as they are snapped down into said housings, so that installation can be performed automatically by a machine in a single step.
