In a sabot for a sub-calibre projectile, segments (1) having at the front and rear, on the outer circumference, projections (2) and (3) with guide faces for guiding the sabot in a firing device form an internally centric tube (4) which surrounds the projectile. For the universal use of the sub-calibre projectile, even in loaders of firearms in which sensors or levers controlling the loading operation are so arranged that they would rest precisely in the middle region of the sabot reduced by a reduction of diameter, the interspace between the projections (2, 3) is bridged by an insert piece (5) in such a way that the outer wall of the sabot in this region is supplemented to form a cylinder surface of the same or virtually the same diameter as that of the projections (2, 3). For the insert piece (5) there is a lightweight design which becomes possible as a result of production from thin sheet metal or thin-walled or foamed plastic. <IMAGE>

Bei einem Treibkäfig für ein unterkalibriges Geschoss bilden Segmente (1), die vorn und hinten am Aussenumfang Vorsprünge (2) und (3) mit Führungsflächen zur Führung des Treibkäfigs in einer Abschussvorrichtung aufweisen, ein im Inneren zentrisches Rohr (4), welches das Geschoss umschließt. Zwecks universeller Verwendung des unterkalibrigen Geschosses, auch bei Ladern von Waffen, bei denen den Ladevorgang steuernde Fühler oder Hebel so angeordnet sind, daß sie gerade in dem durch eine Durchmesserverkleinerung reduzierten mittleren Bereich des Treibkäfigs aufliegen würden, wird der Zwischenraum zwischen den Vorsprüngen (2, 3) durch ein Einsatzstück (5) derart überbrückt, daß die Außenwand des Treibkäfigs in diesem Bereich zu einer Zylinderfläche mit gleichem oder nahezu gleichem Durchmesser wie der der Vorsprünge (2, 3) ergänzt ist. Für das Einsatzstück (5) ist eine Leichtbauweise vorgesehen, welche durch Herstellung aus dünnem Blech oder dünnwandigem oder geschäumtem Kunststoff ermöglicht wird.
