Abstract (en)
A method and apparatus are disclosed for wrapping an elongated flat sheet cigar wrapper of the type having first and second ends 10, 12 and an elongated axis extending between the ends around a generally cylindrical cigar body B having a central axis X and first and second portions between which the wrapper is to be spirally wound as the cigar body is being moved. The second end 12 of the wrapper is secured to the first portion of the body while the remainder of the wrapper extends away from the body in a direction corresponding to the direction of the wrapping action between the body and wrapper. As the body is rotated about its central axis the body rolls over the wrapper which is pulled into a spiral pattern around the body as the wrapper moves with the body. The wrapper is preferably cut from a natural tobacco leaf.
