[origin: EP0030666A2] Manufacture of fibres from thermoplastic copolymers of acrylonitrile and at least one further monomer component, e.g. acrylic esters, styrenes, vinyl compounds and/or polymerisable hydrocarbons. The copolymer is melt processed into films, ribbons or tubes, which are oriented and split. The splitting is preferably effected with an opener machine.
