Abstract (en)

1. A secondary window (10) comprising a main frame (11) formed from assembled extruded profiled sections and corner connectors (20), a casement frame (12) likewise formed from assembled extruded profiled sections and corner connectors (20) the profiled sections of the casement frame (12) having, in a common plane, a groove for accommodating a pane of glass (14) the groove being open towards the inside of the casement frame facing the observation opening, hinges (13) on one side for the hinged connection of the casement frame to the main frame, locking elements on both frames, and a strip-shaped rubber-elastic sealing element (15) on the casement frame for sealing between the main frame and the casement frame, characterized in that, on the side of the casement frame (12) facing the main frame (11), at a position which is remote from the exterior by the arm-length of the uniaxial hinges (13) disposed within the confines of the secondary window, there is a strip-shaped projecting profiled member (46) comprising at least one locking element in the from of a bead (48) and/or a slot on its side facing the interior of the casement frame (12), that on the main frame (11) there is a profiled member (18) which projects inwards adjacent the strip-shaped profiled member (46) of the casement frame (1) when the latter is closed and likewise comprises at least one locking element in the form of a bead (24) and/or a slot on its side facing the strip-shaped profiled member (46), that the locking elements (48 and 24) on the casement frame (12) and on the main frame (11) respectively are constructed and arranged such that, when the casement frame (12) is closed, they engage behind one another in the direction of opening, and that the sealing element (15), on the side of the strip-shaped profiled part (46) remote from the locking element (48), rests at least partially against the profiled part (46) and has a cross-sectional shape which, perpendicularly to the plane of the frame,is at least the same as or slightly greater than the distance between opposed profiled members (37 and 26) of the casement frame (12) and of the main frame (11) respectively and located externally of the strip-shaped profiled member (46).
