Bedpans (10) are used for bedridden persons. Conventional bedpans have a small capacity when standing obliquely. This oblique position invariably arises in consequence of a soft base of the bed. This leads to contaminations of the user and of the bed. Moreover, the hard resting surface causes pain. In the novel bedpan (10), the depression (12) is continued to form a part (16) below the seating edge (14). Moreover, the latter is provided, in whole or in part, with a foam cushion, which is covered with a smooth plastic foil. The oblique position arising in use has the effect that liquid and solid excreter slide below the seating edge. A contamination of the user and of the bed is avoided. The foam-covered resting surface relieves the pain-sensitive region above the coccyx and back region of the patient. <IMAGE>

Bettpfannen (Steckbecken) (10) werden bei Bettlägerigen verwendet. Die herkömmlichen Bettpfannen haben ein geringes Fassungsvermögen bei Schrägstand. Dieser ergibt sich stets infolge einer weichen Unterlage des Bettes. Verschmutzungen des Benutzers und des Bettes sind die Folge. Die harte Auflagefläche bereitet zudem Schmerzen. Bei der neuen Bettpfanne (10) setzt sich die Vertiefung (12) zu einem Teil (16) unterhalb des Sitzrandes (14) fort. Dieser ist zudem ganz oder teilweise mit einem Schaumstoffpolster besetzt, das mit einer glatten Kunststoffolie bedeckt ist. Die beim Benutzen entstehende Schräglage wirkt sich dahin aus, daß flüssige und feste Exkremente unter den Sitzrand gleiten. Eine Beschmutzung des Benutzers und des Bettes wird vermieden. Die schaumstoffüberzogene Auflagefläche entlastet die schmerzempfindliche Region über dem Steiß- und Kreuzbereich des Patienten.
