[origin: WO8102184A1] Safety device ensuring the longitudinal tightness of a pump shaft (1) in case of breaking of the dynamic gasket (3) separating the high pressure chamber (4) from the low pressure chamber (5) of the pump. According to the invention, the device comprises a cylindrical hollow piston (12) coaxially surrounding the pump shaft (1), and means (15, 16) allowing the axial displacement of this piston (12) in order to compress between the shaft (1) and the piston (12) a toroidal safety gasket in case of failure of the dynamic gasket (3). Application to primary pumps of nuclear reactors.

La présente invention concerne un dispositif de sécurité assurant l'étanchéité longitudinale de l'arbre (1) d'une pompe en cas de rupture du joint dynamique (3) séparant la chambre à haute pression (4) de la chambre à basse pression (5) de la pompe. Selon l'invention, le dispositif comprend un piston cylindrique creux (12) entourant coaxialement l'arbre (1) de la pompe, et des moyens (15, 16) permettant de déplacer axialement ce piston (12) de manière à comprimer entre l'arbre (1) et le piston (12) un joint torique (14) de sécurité en cas de défaillance du joint dynamique (3). Application aux pompes primaires des réacteurs nucléaires.
