A pair or clamping jaws for conformally clamping workpieces having possibly a different section in a clamping device containing the clamping jaws, the clamping jaws (1, 2) having clamping surfaces (4, 4') wherein at least one pair of opposing grooves (3, 3') is arranged, characterized in that the cross-section of the grooves is so formed that the side-faces of the grooves (3, 3') verge into the clamping surfaces (4, 4') though convex curvatures (5, 5') originating in the base of the grooves, whereby the side-faces of the grooves so formed serve as clamping surfaces, so that for the conformal clamping of the workpiece can be fitted in the grooves.
