In addition, the treatment bodies are to have a high abrasive capacity with at the same time good stability so that the method can be designed to be as efficient as possible. Provided for this purpose according to the invention are treatment bodies consisting of a plastic compound, such as ceramic or plastic, which is cast or pressed to form geometric bodies with or without intermixed abrasive particles and is then solidified. The treatment bodies are characterised in that the surface of the geometric bodies has a plurality of groove-shaped or cup-shaped recesses. Whereas the previous development of the treatment bodies has shown that an increase in the abrasive capacity was always associated with a greater or lesser reduction in the service life, the treatment bodies according to the invention have a substantially higher abrasive capacity with a virtually unchanged service life. <IMAGE>
