A closed expansion vessel for liquid energy vehicles, in the case of which the said expansion vessel with its gas trap (7) and a gas chamber (8) is made part of a circulatory system, characterized in that the said gas trap (7) is placed within the said expansion vessel and to this end the expansion vessel is made up of an inner container (4) and an outer container (1), said outer container being separated by a liquid energy vehicle, and the inner container (4) has an inlet connection (6) and an outlet opening for the energy vehicle on its lower part (5), and the gas trap (7) is placed at a higher level than the inlet connection (6) so that the gas take-up space formed in the inner container (4) over the gas trap (7) has at the same time the function of a diaphragm-less gas chamber (8) for the expansion vessel, and in that, at a lower level than the outlet opening on the lower part (5) of the inner container (4) in the outer container (1), there is a sludge let-off valve (3), and at the top end of the outer container (1) there is an outlet connection (2).
