[origin: EP0034140A2] A girder for supporting roof elements (5) along their edges consists of a profiled metal plate which forms an upwardly open, trough-shaped channel (1) having longitudinal edge strips (3), bent outwards on both sides, for connection of two series of elements. In order to prevent the blockage of the channel (1) by ice, the two side walls (2) of the groove (1) are connected to one another below their top edge by a cover plate (6), parallel to the bottom, which either passes over the full length of the groove and has passage openings (7) mutually spaced in the longitudinal direction of the channel or is composed of individual sections spaced apart from one another. <IMAGE>
