[origin: EP0034224A2] In a process for strengthening wooden beams, a strengthening beam is glued to the main beam over the whole of its length. The two beam are positioned in the correct register w.r.t. each other with a layer of a fibre mat between the beams. A number of anchoring holes are drilled through the beams and the fibre mat and strengthening rods are introduced into the holes. The seam between the two beams is then sealed and an epoxy resin (mixt.) is poured into the anchor holes until these are completely full and the fibre mat is saturated. Process allows in-situ restoration of old beams or strengthening of existing beams to provide extra load bearing capacity.
