A device for separating sheets made from board or a similar material from a relatively large stock of sheets which are divided up into the actual storage stock (14) and a removal stock (3), the storage stock (14) having a conveyor device (12) with control facilities that switch on the conveyor device when the contents of the subsequent stock fall below a certain minimum level and the removal stock (3) having a separating device, wherein a buffer stock (9), the number of sheets in which controls the regulation of the conveyor device, is divided off from the removal stock and wherein the sheets in all the three consecutive stocks (3, 9, 14) stand on one of their edges and the opposite top edge of the front sheet in each stock always engages a stop bar (8, 10, 15), the removal stock (3) and the subsequent buffer stock (9) being located on the same slanting guide (6) whilst the third stock of sheets, which serves as the actual storage stock (14), is positioned on the conveyor device (12, 13).
