Method of making a slide layer on the surface of a record carrier coated with a thin aluminum layer, characterized in that aluminum is deposited in a vacuum on the record carrier, and reacts during and/or after the deposition with the vapor of a fatty acid, the degree of the reaction being controlled by the partial pressure of the fatty acid.

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum mindestens partiellen Umsetzen von Aluminiumschichten zu Aluminiumsalzen einer Fettsäure auf einem Aufzeichnungsträger, bei dem während und/oder nach dem Niederschlagen der Aluminiumschicht das Aluminium bei gleichzeitiger Anwesenheit des Dampfes einer Fettsäure mindestens partiell umgesetzt wird und daß der Grad der Umsetzung durch den Partialdruck der Fettsäure eingestellt wird. Vorzugsweise wird dabei als Fettsäure die Ölsäure (CH3(CH2)7CH=CH(CH2)7COOH) verwendet, wodurch sich Aluminiumoleatmoleküle auf der Aluminiumschicht bilden und in diese eingelagert werden.
