[origin: US4376964A] For treating textile yarns by electrical discharge, the yarn is caused to travel along a path within at least one module. The module has a first and a second electrode confronting each other. A generator is connected to the electrodes to provide a voltage sufficient to strike an arc. The power of the generator and the impedance of the circuit are such that the arc is quenched after striking in a time which is short as compared to the time of rise to the arc striking voltage.
