Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0036410A2] 1. An installation for processing, such as descaling, stamping and/or drawing, and subsequently straightening wire, comprising a pay-off reel (2), a processing mechanism (4, 5), in particular a descaling, stamping or drawing mechanism, and a straightening and cutting mechanism (6), in which there are arranged in the direction of feed of said wire ahead of and after the straightening rotor (20) of said straightening mechanism (6) pairs of driving rolls (15, 16) clamping said wire (1), and ahead of said driving rolls (15, 16), but after said processing mechanism (4, 5) a capstan (13), characterized in that said capstan (13) and the rolls of said pairs of driving rolls (15, 16) are adapted to be driven from a common motor (10) at different peripheral speeds, with the peripheral speed of the rolls of said pairs of driving rolls (15, 16) being higher than the peripheral speed of said capstan (13), and in that mechanisms (17, 18) are provided for pressing the rolls of said pairs of driving rolls (15, 16) against the wire (1) with adjustable pressure.
