Firing pin safety mechanism for an automatic weapon with a breach-block (2, 3) which is displaceable from a rearward position into a firing position by a recoil spring (17) situated in a spring casing (14) which is arranged in a removable housing part (16) of the weapon, characterised in that the firing pin safety mechanism is arranged in the said removable housing part (16) of the weapon, whilst arranged in this housing part (16) is a blocking member (25) of the firing pin safety mechanism which is displaceable in the path of the spring casing (14), as well as a cam (33) which is displaceable by a rod (34), which cam supports the blocking member (25) of the firing pin safety mechanism against the force of a spring (28).
