[origin: US4332234A] A cylindrical projectile is introduced into the barrel of the propelling apparatus in such a way that the base of the projectile is in contact with a rear cover plate of the breech block. An enclosure communicates with the barrel by means of an elbow and an opening in the side of the breech block to which the elbow is joined. When the projectile is in place, gaskets seal the barrel off from the enclosure. The latter may be filled with compressed air, e.g., by means of a coupling screwed into a tapped hole. It then suffices to move the projectile forward by pushing on a rod passing through the breech block cover plate. The thrust of the entering air moves the projectile, and the size of the air passage rapidly increases, thus ensuring a maximum propulsive effect.

Le projectile cylindrique (13) est engagé dans le tube propulseur (1) de façon que son fond se trouve en contact avec le fond (5) qui ferme la culasse (4) prolongeant le tube (1). L'enceinte (8) communique avec le tube (1) grâce au conduit coudé (7) et à l'ouverture latérale qui est ménagée dans la culasse (4) et raccordée au conduit (7). Quand le projectile est en place, les garnitures (14, 15) obturent toute communication entre le tube (1) et l'enceinte (8). Cette dernière peut être remplie d'air comprimé par exemple au moyen d'un raccord vissé dans un des trous taraudés (12). Il suffit dès lors de déplacer le projectile (13) vers l'avant par enfoncement de la tige (16). Sous l'effet de la poussée de l'air le projectile se déplace et les dimensions du passage libre augmentent rapidement, ce qui assure un effet propulsif maximum.
