Process and apparatus for producing textured continuous filament yarns from synthetic linear high molecular weight substances by means of heated flowing media wherein the filaments are exposed within a first treatment chamber between a yarn introduction zone and a yarn guide zone to the action of a gaseous heated medium in turbulent flow to heat them to a temperature at which the filaments become plastic, transported by means of the turbulent medium through the first treatment zone and then within a second treatment zone passed first through a cylindrical zone from which some of the medium can radially escape and then guided through a slightly conically widening zone from which the medium can likewise escape sideways, with the proviso that the speed of the flowing medium and of the yarn is set in such a way as to produce a ratio of the residence time of the yarn in the cylindrical zone to the residence time in the conically widened zone of from 1:19 to 4:1, preferably from 1:9 to 1:2. <IMAGE>

Verfahren und Vorrichtung zur Herstellung texturierter Endlosfäden aus synthetischen linearen hochmolekularen Stoffen mittels erhitzter strömender Medien, bei dem man die Fäden zwischen einer Fadeneinführungszone und einer Fadenführungszone in einer ersten Behandlungskammer der Einwirkung eines gasförmigen turbulent strömenden erhitzten Mediums aussetzt, dabei auf eine Temperatur erwärmt, bei der die Fäden plastifizierbar werden, mittels des turbulent strömenden Mediums durch die erste Behandlungszone transportiert und dann in einer zweiten Behandlungszone zunächst durch eine zylindrische Zone leitet, aus der das Medium zum Teil radial entweichen kann, und anschließend durch eine sich schwach kegelförmig erweiternde Zone führt, aus der das Medium ebenfalls seitlich entweichen kann, mit der Maßgabe, daß die Geschwindigkeit von strömendem Medium und Faden so eingestellt wird, daß sich ein Verhältnis der Verweilzeit des Fadens in der zylindrischen Zone zur Verweilzeit in der sich kegelförmig erweiterten Zone von 1 : 19 bis 4 : 1, vorzugsweise 1 : 9 bis 1 : 2 ergibt.
