Musical instrument comprising a body (1), a head (2), between the two a neck (3), on the neck a fingerboard (4) and strings (5) intended to interact with the fingerboard. The fingerboard (4) is smooth, i.e. fretless, and of metal. The combination of this smoothness and the use of metal makes it possible to produce a non-tempered instrument, i.e. one on which notes of any pitch may be played, with the sound qualities of a fretted instrument. <IMAGE>

Instrument de musique du type à cordes pincées, comprenant un corps (1), une tête (2), entre les deux, un manche (3), sur le manche, une touche (4) et des cordes (5) destinées à coopérer avec la touche. La touche (4) est lisse, c'est-à-dire sans frettes, et métallique. La combinaison de ce lissé et de l'utilisation du métal permet d'obtenir un instrument non tempéré, c'est-à-dire sur lequel on peut jouer des notes d'une hauteur quelconque, avec les qualités sonores d'un instrument à frettes.
