1. A device for positioning a fastener driving tool preferably pneumatically operated, e.g. a nail driving tool, for fastening work pieces, such as building fittings, with the fastening element (4) e.g. the nail, by means of a driving pin (7) being adapted to be driven from a device mouthpiece (8) forming at least a part of the driving barrel (6), for fastening work piece (3), with at least two positioning elements (9) disposed axially symmetrically to the driving barrel (6) being provided in the device mouthpiece (8), which positioning elements in the positioning position thereof at the end protruding from the device mouthpiece (8) form a common cross-section and are movable from the positioning position into a releasing position wherein, possibly by the fastening element (4) itself to be driven out, they are adapted to be expanded relative to one another while releasing driving barrel (6), characterized in that for fastening work pieces (3) provided with apertures, recesses or the like weakened portions (2), the joint cross section formed by the positioning elements (9) in their positioning position corresponds to the cross section of the aperture, recess or weakened portion (2), and that the positioning elements (9) after being mounted onto the aperture, recess or weakened portion (2) are displaceable under the weight of the driving tool (1) or under the pressure pointing toward the driving barrel axis (A) and exerted by the operator on the driving tool (1) in axial manner from the front positioning into a rear releasing position and in that releasing position of the driving barrel (6) are adapted to be expanded.
