A mascara brush having a shank and an application portion in the form of a central support which is disposed at its front end from which spaced radial projections originate, the outer surface of the support and the radial projections being provided to retain and dispense the liquid, powdered or pasty medium to be applied, characterised in that the radial projections are thin elongated tentacles (4) and that the outer surface of the support (3) and the tentacles (4) are provided with grooves (5, 6, 8) or ribs (7, 7').
