Shot-counting device for automatic fire weapons, notably portable weapons, the device of the type comprising a notched part (1), such as a ratchet-wheel, where the forward movement of a tooth is obtained by a pawl (5), opposite a counter rotation device, and driven by a part (7) set in motion by the rearward movement of the mobile assembly, wherein suitable means exercise a force supplementing the bearing force of the driving pawl (5) against one of the teeth of the toothed part (1) when meshing occurs for improved bearing of the pawl (5) during the meshing stage with the tooth.
