[origin: US4353380A] A hair curler includes a flexible central lattice element 2 flanked by hinged wing elements 3, 4 and having a flattened coil spring 5 mounted thereon under tension, thus tending to roll up the curler. The curler is held open in a first embodiment by a segmented strip 6 mounted on a wing element and only rollable in one direction, whereby it blocks rolling when the wing element is folded out and enables it when the wing element is folded over the central element. Rolling is prevented in a second embodiment by angle springs 9 and/or corner bands 10 connected at the hinge points of cross bars 8 extending across the central and wing elements, to thus hold the opened wing elements perpendicular to the main element.

Der Lockenwickler weist ein flexibles Wickelteil (1) mit Durchbrechungen und eine dem Wickelteil (1) zugeordnete spannbare Feder (5a, 5b) auf, welche zum Wickeln der Haare lösbar ist. Zwecks Schaffung eines besonders einfachen, mit Federkraft arbeitenden Lockenwicklers, der insbesondere einfach und preiswert herstellbar und unkompliziert im Gebrauch ist, besteht das Wickelteil (1) aus einem flach ausgebildeten Hauptteil (2) und wenigstens einem auf dieses klappbaren, flach ausgebildeten seitlichen Flügelteil (3,4), ist die Feder (5a, 5b) im gespannten Zustand entlang des Hauptteils (2) angeordnet und sind Mittel (8, 9, 10) zum Verhindern eines Einrollens des Hauptteils (2) unter der Wirkung der gespannten Feder (5a, 5b) vorgesehen. Dabei sind bevorzugt wenigstens an den Stirnseiten von Hauptteil (2) und Flügelteil (3,4) Querrippen (8) sowie das Flügelteil (3, 4) zum Verhindern eines Einrollens des Hauptteils (2) unter Wirkung der gespannten Feder (5a, 5b) in etwa senkrecht aufgeklappter stabiler Lage zum Hauptteil (2) haltende Halteelemente (9, 10) vorgesehen.
