An electrophotographic recording material composed of an electrically conductive layer support and, if appropriate, an insulating interlayer and a photoconductive layer which constitutes at least one layer containing, as the dye which generates charge carriers, a N,N'-substituted perylenetetracarboxylic acid bisimide and photoconductors, binders and conventional additives, wherein the dye present is the dark crystal modification of N,N'-bis-(3-methoxypropyl)- perylenetetracarboxylic acid imide, which modification is identified by the interference at 2 theta = 6.2 degrees in the X-ray diffraction diagram (Cu-K alpha radiation).
