The invention relates to a process and apparatus for burning cement, wherein the preheating and precalcination of granulated raw material takes place on a moving grate preheater (1) using air from a cooler, while exit gases from the rotary kiln (B) are passed to a cyclone preheater (2) for preheating powdery raw material. Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren und eine Anlage zum Brennen von Zement, wobei die Vorwärmung und Vorcalcination von granuliertem Rohmaterial auf einem Wanderrostvorwärmer (1) unter Verwendung von Kühlerluft erfolgt, während Abgase des Drehrohrofens (B) einem Zyklonvorwärmer (2) zur Vorwärmung von mehlförmigem Rohmaterial zugeführt werden. Ein solches Verfahren zeichnet sich durch einen besonders guten Wirkungsgrad der Vorwärmung aus.
