A hoist for transporting in a vertical position containers which are provided with lifting lugs and in particular for conveying transport containers for radioactive substances in nuclear plant, comprising a crosshead (1) for accomodating a hook which crosshead has four extending straps (2, 8, 14, 15) and two stop straps (13, 18) for the lifting lugs of the container, the crosshead (1) which accommodates the hook being connected to the extending straps (2, 8, 14, 15), by means of extendables bolts (9), characterised in that two extending straps (8 and 14) are fastened to the container by means of connecting parts (7, 17) and the stop straps (13, 18), and two extending straps (2, 15) are fastened to a container cage (27) by means of connecting parts (6, 16).
