Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0042139A2] Method and device for the simultaneous preparation of several copies of a paper original in one operation and on normal paper, which original is printed or inscribed with sublimable dye while the whole paper set is heated to the sublimation temperature of the dye. It is thus possible also to obtain in one operation the desired number of copies of documents, which are written with writing implements which permit no carbon copies. The preparation of the copies can take place immediately after writing or at any desired later stage. In the application of the method to electrostatic photocopying devices with corresponding addition of dye to the toner, the invention makes possible simultaneous preparation of a number of copies on normal paper together with the single copy, without more expenditure being required in terms of method or equipment. The essential constituents of the device for carrying out the method are, as illustrated in Fig. 2, the heated contact-pressure roller 52, the heating of which is adjusted in such a way that the sublimation temperature of the dye is not undershot by the entire paper set 34, 66, and an air-permeable counter-roller, the inner space of which is connected to a suction pump, on the side of the paper set 64, 66 opposite the heating, between which constituents the paper original 64 with the copying paper set 66 is moved through. <IMAGE>
