[origin: EP0042949A1] A typewriter platen detenting system which involves a detent roller (50) spring biased into the indexing ratchet (14) of the typewriter platen (10) is improved by the addition of a pawl stop (56) mounted physically to the detent roller mounting bracket (52) such that the index paw (18), upon its completion of travel for effecting indexing of the platen (10), engages the pawl stop (56) and physically forces the detent member (50) into the teeth of indexing ratchet (14).
