Eine Glättekelle, insbesondere für das Maurerhandwerk, besteht aus einem Blatt 10, auf dessen Blattoberseite ein Befestigungssteg 18 für eine Handhabe 20 angebracht ist, die aus einem vertikal zum Blatt 10 verlaufenden Halsteil 32 sowie aus einem etwa parallel über dem Blatt weiterlaufenden Griffteil 21 besteht. Auf der Unterseite der Handhabe ist eine Kehle 38 angeordnet und auf der Oberseite 24 der Handhabe befindet sich eine Knickstelle 33, in deren Bereich eine längsmittige Axialfläche 34 für eine Spreizlage des Daumens angeordnet ist, wenn die Hand den Griffteil 21 Umfaßt. Damit alle anfallenden Arbeiten leicht und bequem mit der Kelle auszuführen sind, wird auf der Oberseite 24 der Handhabe 20, zwischen dem vertikalen Halsteil 32 und dem blattparallelen Griffteil 21 ein demgegenüber beidendig durch zwei Knick-übergänge 30, 33 abgesetztes, geneigt verlaufendes Geradstück 31 angeordnet, und auf der Unterseite 26 diesem Geradstück 31 die Kehle gegengesetzt. Das Geradstück 31 bildet zusammen mit dem Halsteil 32 einen Steuerabschnitt mit gleichbleibender Querschnittsdicke, über dessen ganze Länge 22 die längsmittige Axialfläche 34 mit jeweils planen Teilflächen im Halsteil 32 einerseits und im Geradstück andererseits sich erstreckt. Beidlängsseitig dieser Axialfläche 34 sind, durch Längskanten 37 gegeneinander abgesetzte plane Nebenflächen 35, 35' für alternative Spreizlagen des Daumens 12 angeordnet.
