Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0043805A2] The uprights (1) of a ladder are made from GRP and have a hollow rectangular cross-section. Each upright has a row of rectangular holes (5) on the side (1A) facing the opposite upright. These holes receive rungs (3), which are also made from glass fibre reinforced plastics and have a hollow rectangular cross-section. The rungs are inserted in the holes until they abut against the inner surface of the outer wall of the upright. Rectangular holes (7) are formed in the upper and lower walls of the rungs in the areas which penetrate the uprights. The rungs are then secured by a long rectangular section which is inserted endwise into the upright and passes through the holes (7) in all the rungs. Instead of one long tube (9) several shorter tubes may be used.
