The hinge joint consists of a hinge part (4) forming a supporting-wall fixture part and of a pivotable hinge part (5) which are connected to one another in an articulated manner by means of two links (6, 7) to form a four-bar system. A brake shoe (37) transmits to one of the links, at a distance from one of its pivot pins, a braking force which counteracts the pivoting torque. In order in a simple way to compensate the torque generated by the flap or the like by means of the braking force, the brake shoe (37) is fastened to the link at a distance from the pivot pin and is guided in a guide (35) which is concentric relative to the pivot pin and which is located in a wall (15) of the housing of the hinge part containing the pivot pin. The brake shoe (37) thereby interacts frictionally with the guide (35) or its edge regions. <IMAGE>

Ein Scharniergelenk für um horizontale Achsen schwenkbare Klappen oder dergleichen besteht aus einem einen Tragwand-anschlagteil bildenden Scharnierteil (4) und einem verschwenkbaren Scharnierteil (5), die durch zwei Lenker (6,7) gelenkig zu einem Viergelenksystem miteinander verbunden sind. Ein Bremsschuh (37) überträgt auf einen der Lenker im Abstand von einer seiner Gelenkachsen eine dem verschwenkenden Drehmoment entgegenwirkende Bremskraft. Um in einfacher Weise das von der Klappe od.dgl. erzeugte Moment durch die Bremskraft zu kompensieren, ist der Bremsschuh (37) im Abstand von der Gelenkachse auf dem Lenker befestigt und in einer zur Gelenkachse konzentrischen Führung, (35) die sich in einer Wandung (15) des Gehäuses des die Gelenkachse enthaltenden Scharnierteils befindet, geführt. Dabei wirkt der Bremsschuh (37) reibschlüssig mit der Führung (35) oder deren Randbereichen zusammen.
