According to this process, for the immediate separation of board pieces or for the mere initiation of separation with subsequent completion elsewhere, a board (2) is displaced in the direction of division relative to at least one thin-walled, smooth-edged, annular rotating metal blade (3; 3), the metal blade (3; 3) being pressed into the board material in a non-cutting manner until a predetermined depth of penetration is reached, without chips or other particulate waste occurring. The board (2) simultaneously passes in pairs through metal blades (3; 3) which engage on its topside and underside and which are respectively arranged jointly in groups on shafts (5) fastened easily exchangeably in the separating device. When the board (2) is divided into a plurality of narrow strips, there is a fanning of the board (2) which increases in the direction of advance and for which resilient lateral guides are provided. <IMAGE>

Nach diesem Verfahren wird eine Platte (2) zum sofortigen Abtrennen von Plattenstücken oder zur bloßen Einleitung der Trennung mit nachfolgender Vollendung an anderer Stelle in Aufteilrichtung relativ gegenüber mindestens einer dünnwandigen, glattrandigen, kreisringförmigen, rotierenden Metallklinge (3;3) verschoben, wobei die Metallklinge (3;3) spanlos bis zur Erreichung einer vorbestimmten Eindringtiefe in das Plattenmaterial eingedrückt wird, ohne daß Späne oder anderweitiger teilchenförmiger Abfall anfällt. Dabei durchläuft die Platte (2) paarweise gleichzeitig an ihrer Ober- und Unterseite angreifende Metallklingen (3:3), die jeweils gruppenweise gemeinsam auf in der Aufteilvorrichtung leicht austauschbar befestigten Wellen (5) angeordnet sind. Bei Aufteilung der Platte (2) in eine Vielzahl schmaler Streifen findet eine in Vorschubrichtung zunehmende Auffächerung der Platte (2) statt, für die federnde Seitenführungen vorgesehen sind.
