[origin: US4424515A] An assembly for mounting an antenna on the body of an automotive vehicle comprises a substantially cylindrical mounting sleeve with an outwardly facing circumferential groove for gripping the edge of a preformed hole in the vehicle body upon an insertion of the sleeve through the hole in a mounting operation. The sleeve is formed with a substantially spherical inner surface in the region of the groove for engaging a matching spherical surface at one end of an antenna casing, the matching spherical surfaces providing a water-tight seal while enabling the casing to assume any of a plurality of orientations with respect to the vehicle body. The sleeve has a bellows-like wall formed at an end opposite the groove with a bead for engaging a cylindrical surface of the antenna casing in a water-tight form fit regardless of the orientation of the casing with respect to the body. A mounting bracket provides mechanical support and an electrical ground for the antenna casing.

Das innerhalb der Karosserie befestigte Schutzrohr (8) des als Teleskop ausgebildeten Antennenstabes durchsetzt einen Durchbruch (1) des Karosseriebleches (2). Im versenkten Zu= stand überragt das Kopfteil (12, 16) die Karosserieoberfläche nur wenig. Die Durchführung durch das Karosserieblech ist wasserdicht ausgeführt und ermöglicht es, die Neigung der Antenne gegenüber der Karosserieoberfläche innerhalb bestimmter Grenzen einzustellen. Dazu weist die elastische Tülle (3) einen kugelschalenförmig ausgebildeten Abschnitt auf, in dem ein entsprechend gewölbter Bereich des Kopfteiles (12) drehbar unter Druck anliegt. Die Randzone (4) des Durchbruches (1) greift in die Ringnut der einstückigen, abdichtenden Tülle (3) ein. Eine besonders zweckmäßige Ausführung der Tülle (3) weist einen balgartig gewellten Stutzen (14) auf, der am freien Ende mit einem Ringwulst (15) unabhängig von der Schräglage der Antenne gegen einen ringförmigen Bund (11) des Schutzrohres (8) und dessen Außenwand gedrückt ist. Die damit erreichte hohe Flüssigkeits - dichtigkeit gewährleistet eine dauerhaft sichere Funktion der Antenne auch bei Einsatz im Spritz- bzw. Schwallwasserbereich von Radkästen.
