Profiled rod-shaped bearer element (1) for lathwork (3) having at least one profile member which is connectable with or provided with longitudinally staggered retaining members (6) for the lathwork (3) and with, set back in relation to the supporting face of this or these profile members, a profiled part having, staggered in a longitudinal direction, a plurality of housings (15) each intended to accommodate a fixing element (2) of the bearer element (1), the free ends of the retaining members (6) and of the fixing elements (2) extending in opposite directions, characterised in that each fixing element (2) is mounted on the bearer element (1) so as to be displaceable on and in the longitudinal direction of the bearer element (1), the cross-section of the bearer element being substantially U-shaped with outwardly bent-over ends, these latter lying in a common plane and forming two spaced-apart profiled flanges (10, 11) and in that the fixing element (2), at least in the region thereof which is associated with the housing (15), has a screwthread and in that the bearer element (1) is retained between two abutment members (22, 25) of the fixing element, in particular at least one being constructed as a nut.
