[origin: US4401408A] The present invention relates to an articulated vehicle comprising a first frame assembly including a first pair of road wheels; an upwardly protruding vertical pivot fixed to the first frame assembly; a second frame assembly including a substantially horizontal beam having a first and a second ends, with the first end being formed with bearings mounted on the pivot and with the beam extending horizontally above the first frame assembly, a support fixed to the second end of the beam, the support including a second pair of road wheels; apparatus to rotate the second frame assembly about the pivot relative to the first frame assembly; a boom pivoted to the second frame assembly about a horizontal axis; apparatus to raise and lower the boom relative to the second frame assembly; ground engaging elements to support said vehicle; connectors to connect ground engaging elements with the first frame assembly while permitting vertical displacement of the ground engaging elements relative to said first frame assembly; and apparatus to displace the ground engaging elements relative to the first frame assembly between a retracted position for which said ground engaging elements are raised with respect to the first frame assembly, with the wheels of the first and second pair resting on the ground to support the vehicle, and an expanded position for which the wheels of the first and second pairs are raised above ground, the vehicle being wholly supported by the ground engaging elements.

La présente invention concerne la réalisation d'un véhicule, constituant un engin de terrassement à rotation totale, utilisant le même organe, pour la direction du véhicule, et la rotation totale de l'équipement porté. Ce châssis est composé d'un élément propulseur avant (1), comportant un dispositif stabilisateur qui lui est propre (4), et un pivot (5), autour duquel s'oriente un ?châssis ?-pont (6) composé a l'avant d'un boîtier de rotation (7) tournant autour du pivot, a l'arrière de goussets (8) portant: l'essieu arrière (9), le vérin de levage (11), et le bras de levage (15) par son articulation (10). Lorsque les roues touchent le sol, l'orientation du véhicule se fait autour du pivot (5) et assure la direction de l'engin. Lorsque le stabilisateur avant (4) porte au sol, les roues (3) et (3a) se trouvent décollées du sol, et permettent l'orientation totale de l'arrière du châssis (6), donc du godet (16) porté par le bras de levage (15).
