A darkroom lamp having at least one light-emitting diode (100) which is supplied pulsewise by a direct-current source (80; 122), characterized in that the direct-current pulses are generated with pulse amplitudes in time intervals at a low pulse duration (t) with respect to their pulse repetition period (T) and at a pulse repetition frequency (1/T) which is many times higher as compared with the frequency of the alternating-current line voltage, said pulse amplitudes being many times greater within the range of the allowed dissipated power of the light-emitting diode (100) than the rated current thereof for continuous direct-current supply.
