[origin: US4600407A] The invention relates to a process for the production of swellable filaments, fibers and shaped structures of acrylic polymer, by reacting the free carboxyl groups of the filament-forming substance with substances which react in a basic manner, with water being excluded, and to swellable filaments and fibers thus obtained, which, in the dry state, have tensile strengths of more than 10 cN/tex and knot strengths of more than 6 cN/tex and which can be further processed by means of the customary textile machinery.

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung quellfähiger Fäden, Fasern und geformter Gebilde aus Acrylpolymeren durch Umsetzung der freie Carboxylgruppen aufweisenden fadenbildenden Substanz mit basisch reagierenden Substanzen unter Ausschluß von Wasser sowie die dabei erhaltenen quellfähigen Fäden und Fasern, die in trockenem Zustand Zugfestigkeiten von mehr als 10 cN/tex und Knotenfestigkeiten von mehr als 6 cN/tex aufweisen und mit Hilfe üblicher Textilmaschinen weiterverarbeitet werden können.
