[origin: US4441879A] An oil burner for installation in heating or steam-raising boilers. The burner has downstream of an oil atomization device a plate having a single opening or a plurality of openings arranged in a ring coaxially of the oil atomising device, the plate opening or openings being the only throughway for combustion air. A mixing tube is arranged coaxially at a distance downstream of the plate. The mixing tube has a diameter greater than the diameter of the single opening or of a circle which encloses the plurality of openings in the plate. A flame tube positioned coaxially around the mixing tube has a length such that the flow of combustion gases downstream of the mixing tube is applied against the internal wall of the flame tube. To enable the burner alternatively to be used for burning gaseous fuel at will, an annular chamber for the supply of a gaseous fuel and having gas outlet openings in the region of the plate opening or openings is also provided downstream of and close to the plate. By the use of substantially similar component parts it is possible to manufacture a burner solely for gaseous fuel comprising the plate having a coaxial single opening or a plurality of openings, a throughway for the combustion air and an annular chamber downstream of and close to the plate for the supply of the gaseous fuel and having gas outlet openings in the vicinity of the plate opening or openings.

Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf einen Brenner zum Einbau in Heizungs- und Dampferzeugungskessel mit einer vor der Ölzerstäubungsvorrichtung (30) angeordneten plattenförmigen Blende (40) mit einer zur Ölzerstäubungsvorrichtung koaxialen Einloch- oder Mehrloch-Blendenöffnung (46) als Durchlaß für das zerstäubte Öl, wobei die Blendenöffnung einziger Durchlaß für die Verbrennungsluft ist, einem koaxial stromab im Abstand vor der Blende (40) angeordneten Mischrohr (48) mit einem Durchmesser größer als der Durchmesser der Blendenöffnung bzw. des diese einschließenden Kreises, und mit einem das Mischrohr koaxial umgebenden Flammrohr (10) mit einer solchen Länge, daß sich die Brenngasströmung stromab vom Mischrohr gegen die innere Wandung des Flammrohres anlegt. Um den Brenner wahlweise mit Öl oder Gas betreiben zu können, ist stromab der plattenförmigen ersten Blende (40) im Abstand eine zweite plattenförmige Blende (56) mit einer koaxial zur Blendenöffnung (46) der ersten Blende angeordneten Blendenöffnung (58) vorgesehen. Die beiden Blenden bilden eine ringförmige Kammer (72) für die Zuführung eines Heizgases, die im Bereich der Blendenöffnungen mit wenigstens einer Gasaustrittsöffnung (66) versehen ist. Das Mischrohr (48) ist zur Bildung des Einlaßquerschnittes für das rezirkulierende Brenngas stromab im Abstand von der zweiten Blende (56) angeordnet. Ein derartiger Brenner läßt sich auch als reiner Gasbrenner verwenden, insbesonndere wenn die Ölzerstäubungsvorrichtung durch einen entsprechend angeordneten und ausgebildeten Luftleitkörper ersetzt wird.
