[origin: EP0048668A2] This process, which applies to slightly basic effluents containing oxidising ions and reducing ions, is characterised in that, before converting these effluents into sludge, they are acidified so as to obtain a pH of between 5 and 7, the reducing ions present in these effluents are oxidised and the added acid is then neutralised so as to obtain a pH of between 8 and 9, the oxidation of the reducing ions making it possible to avoid possible interactions between the oxidising ions and the reducing ions present in this sludge when the latter is being coated with bitumen.
