Abstract (en)

[origin: WO8101811A1] Process for manufacturing metal pellets, whereby pellets are formed by solidification from molten metal, characterized in that a melted metal jet is formed, passed through a vibrating port (13, 48) to divide the jet into individual droplets, and in that solidification of said droplets into pellets is caused by cooling. To this effect, the jet droplets are dropped by gravity through an inert gas atmosphere maintained at a temperature lower than the solidification temperature of the molten metal. for reactive metals, said jet is formed by tapping off from a molten metal mass kept in contact with a non miscible bath therewith, selectively dissolving the derivatives resulting from its possible oxidation.
