A method for the continuous production of monobasic powders by means of a twin-shaft screw press, in which nitrocellulose moistened with solvent is fed into an intake section of the screw press, is mixed and whilst doing so gelatinised in subsequent mixing and kneading sections of the screw press with added solvent and if appropriate other additives, and is extruded in continuous form at the discharge extremity of the screw press, characterised in that the solvent for the nitrocellulose is added solely within a mixing section (Me) following the open intake section (E).
