[origin: WO8103394A1] A process for generating an ion vapor from a liquid sample can be used in interfacing a liquid chromatograph (9) to a mass spectrometer (4). The process includes generating an aerosol from the liquid Preferably at least a fraction of the particles in the aerosol are charged. The process includes impacting the particles against a surface (46) which is maintained at a temperature above an impact-vaporization temperature. Upon colliding with the surface the particles are vaporized and an ion vapor formed.

Un procede de production d'une vapeur d'ions a partir d'un echantillon liquide peut etre utilise dans l'interface d'une chromatographie liquide (9) sur un spectrometre de masse (4). Le procede consiste a generer un aerosol a partir du liquide. De preference au moins une fraction des particules dans l'aerosol sont chargees. Le procede consiste en ce que les particules entrent en collision contre une surface (46) qui est maintenue a une temperature superieure a une temperature d'impact-vaporisation. Lors de la collision avec la surface les particules sont vaporisees et une valeur d'ions se forme.
