In a tile cutting appliance having a base plate (1) constructed as a tile support surface and having a slide (11) which can be displaced on a horizontal guide (9, 10) above the tile support surface, on which slide an angular lever having a cutting wheel (24), a breaking head (25) and an actuation arm (20) is swivellably mounted, it is intended to achieve savings in terms of material and weight and thus a cost reduction without adversely affecting the handleability and operativeness. For this purpose it is provided that the horizontal guide (9, 10) be arranged off centre near to a longitudinal edge (33) of the base plate (1) and that only the part lying on the opposite side of the cutting wheel path of the base plate be approximately the width of a hand. By these measures a considerable reduction in the dimensions of the base plate is achieved whilst the operativeness, in particular the stability of the appliance is not influenced at all. <IMAGE>

Bei einem Fliesenschneidgerät, mit einer als Fliesenauflage ausgebildeten Bodenplatte (1) und mit einem auf einer horizontalen Führung (9, 10) oberhalb der Fliesenauflage verschiebbaren Schlitten (11), an dem ein ein Schneidrad (24), einen Brechkopf (25) und einen Betätigungsarm (20) aufweisender Winkelhebel schwenkbar gelagert ist, soll eine Material- und Gewichtsersparnis und damit Kostenreduzierung ohne Beeinträchtigung der Handhabbarkeit und Funktionsweise erreicht werden. Zu diesem Zweck ist vorgesehen, daß die horizontale Führung (9, 10) außermittig nahe eines Längsrandes (33) der Bodenplatte (1) angeordnet ist und daß nur der auf der gegenüberliegenden Seite der Schneidradbahn liegende Teil der Bodenplatte etwa handbreit ist. Durch diese Maßnahmen wird eine beträchtliche Reduzierung der Abmessungen der Bodenplatte erreicht, während die Funktionsweise, insbesondere die Standfestigkeit, des Gerätes in keiner Weise berührt wird.
