Abstract (en)
[origin: US4441445A] The trimaran has a lateral hull which is fixed at the end of a beam rotatably mounted on a longitudinal axis, which itself is supported by an outrigger protruding from the central hull. A jack allows the lateral hull to rotate around the axis (arrow). Openings are provided in the lateral hull, in order to fill and flush it. The catamaran can be righted from the capsized position by a rotation of the water-filled side hulls through about 90 DEG , because the side hulls then act as ballasted keels. After emptying the lateral hulls and returning the beams to their normal position, navigation may be resumed.
