An ultrasonic transducer is characterized in that a diaphragm (13) is disposed at the centre of a laminated piezo-electric element (11) and the periphery of the diaphragm (13) is flexibly fixed to a housing (17) for the element (11) through a buffer member (20) of a resilient material such as elastic rubber in order to suppress mechanical oscillation.
