[origin: WO8103616A1] A microwave antenna system for intracavitary insertion for inducing hyperthermia by microwave irradiation is provided for cancer treatment and the like. An elongated antenna (11) is adapted to laterally propagate a generally uniform field of microwaves of a wavelength of85 to 120cm. A dielectric jacket (22) surrounds the antenna having a closed outer end (24), but open at its inner end (26). The jacket is equipped with air circulation conduits (30, 32) to cool the tissue in the immediate vicinity of the jacket.

Un systeme d'antenne a micro-ondes pour l'insertion intracavitaire pour induire l'hyperthermie par irradiation par micro-ondes est destine au traitement du cancer et autres maladies. Une antenne allongee (11) est concue pour propager un champ generalement uniforme de micro-ondes d'une longueur d'ondes de 85 a 120 cm. Une chemise dielectrique (22) entoure l'antenne, et presente une extremite externe fermee (24), mais est ouverte a son extremite interne (26). La chemise est equipee de conduites de circulation d'air (30, 32) pour refroidir les tissus au voisinage immediat de la chemise.
