[origin: US4431324A] In a ribbon cartridge for an office writing machine, which cartridge includes a housing having a base plate, a supply reel and a take-up reel mounted in the housing, a carbon ribbon wound around the reels and mounted to be conducted from the supply reel to the take-up reel while traveling over a guidance path having a first portion located outside of the housing and a second portion located inside the housing and extending between the first portion and the take-up reel, the housing being provided with an entrance opening located between the first and second portions of the guidance path for the passage of the ribbon into the housing, and the cartridge further including guide elements located for guiding the ribbon along the second path portion and a transport roller located along the second path portion for transporting the ribbon to the take up reel, the base plate is provided with recesses for damping noise generated during operation of the machine, and the cartridge is constructed for preventing particles which are detached from the ribbon over the second portion of the guidance path from falling out of the housing.

Die Farbbandkassette ist jeder Zeit ohne Beschmutzung der Finger aus der Aufnahmevorrichtung einer Schreib- oder ähnlichen Büromaschine einsetz- bzw. aus dieser herausnehmbar. Zwecks Reduzierung der Geräusche in der Maschine ist der Boden (47) der Farbbandkassette mit Vertiefungen (39, 45) versehen, welche durch eine Membran (41) verschlossen sind. Diese Membran verhindert ein Herausfallen von Schmutzteilchen aus den Farbbandkassetten und damit eine Verschmutzung der Maschinenteile in der Aufnahmevorrichtung der Maschine. Die Membran kann eine Folie (41) sein, die die ganze Bodenplatte (47) innen oder außen abdeckt. Auch können die Vertiefungen Sacklöcher (45) mit je einem membranartigen Boden (47) sein. Weiterhin können die mit Durchbrüchen versehenen Vertiefungen (39) durch eine Schwelle umgeben sein, die grabenförmig zur Aufnahme der Schmutzteilchen oder erhaben ausgebildet sein kann. Die erhabene Schwelle verhindert das Vordringen der Schmutzteilchen zu den Vertiefungen mit den Durchbrüchen.
