Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0054930A1] 1. Apparatus for the manufacture of a link belt (5), for example for paper machines, consisting of a multiplicity of monofil helical strands (2, 3, 4) of an elastic material, preferably a thermofixing plastic, which strands are assembled successively and in mutual engagement transversely to their longitudinal extent, wherein a coupling wire (6) of plastic monofilament is pushed as joining means into the helices which have been fitted into each other, the last helix strand (3) fixed by the coupling wire (6) during fitting being fixed, at least in the fitting region of the helix strand (2) to be introduced, by filling the free space (8) of the penultimate helix strand (4), in such a way that yielding of the last helix strand (3) in the direction of the joining pressure is not possible, the apparatus comprising a working table (1), a winding-up device (44) for a link belt part already produced, an insertion device (18) for feeding the helix strand (2) to be fitted in and a device for feeding the coupling wire (6), characterised by a fixing wire (91) which extends parallel to the coupling wire (6) over the entire width of the link belt and which is introduced into the free space (8) of a helix strand (4) already fitted in, before the helix strand (2) to be fitted in is fitted in and, after the helix strand (2) has been fitted in and fixed by means of a coupling wire (6), is removed from the helix strand (4).
