[origin: WO8200157A1] The present invention relates to the field of fermentations and of which the object is a modular fermentor. The present fermentor is comprised of an annular housing substantially arranged vertically, provided at its upper portion with a partition wall (10) dividing the upper annular space in an upstream compartment (11) and a downstream compartment (12) and with a couple of facing openings (17) one opening into the upstream compartment and the other one into the downstream compartment, said partition wall providing at its base a communication (16) of reduced cross section area between the two upstream and downstream compartments, said communication being provided to allow a circulation with a low flow rate between the upstream compartment and the downstream compartment, said partition wall intended to act as a barrage to a so-called high flow rate "flush" circulation, said side openings allowing the passage of the flush circulation, said side openings having their lowest point located at a certain distance (19) above the highest point of the lower portion of the top part of the annular housing. Application to the production of various metabolites: enzymes, alcohol, methane gas etc..., of biomass: production of yeast from molasse, lactoserum etc..., and to purification of evacuation waters.

Abstract (fr)

La presente invention est du domaine des fermentations et elle a pour objet un fermenteur modulaire. Un fermenteur de l'invention est constitue d'une enceinte annulaire disposee sensiblement verticalement, pourvue a sa partie haute d'une cloison (10) separant l'espace annulaire superieur en un compartiment amont (11) et un compartiment aval (12), et d'un couple d'ouvertures telles que (17) en regard debouchant l'une dans le compartiment amont, l'autre dans le compartiment aval, ladite cloison menageant a sa base une communication (16) de section assez reduite entre les deux compartiments amont et aval, ladite communication etant destinee a permettre une circulation a debit assez faible entre le compartiment amont et le compartiment aval, ladite cloison etant destinee a faire barrage a une circulation dite de "chasse" a fort debit, lesdites ouvertures laterales etant destinees a permettre le passage de ladite circulation de chasse, lesdites ouvertures laterales ayant leur point le plus bas situe a une certaine distance (19) au-dessus du point le plus haut de la partie inferieure de la partie haute de ladite enceinte annulaire. Applications a la production de metabolites divers: enzymes, alcool, gaz methane etc..., de biomasse. production de levure a partir de melasse, lactoserum etc..., et a l'epuration d'eaux de rejet.
